Job Description

Fairmont Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care. This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile, motivated assistant who enjoys variety in their day and wants to fully utilize a well-rounded clinical skillset across surgical assisting, dentistry, and outpatient care. We are seeking dependable candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask efficiently, anticipate team needs, and take pride in delivering exceptional support at every stage of the patient visit - including advanced dental procedures. In this position, you will take an active role in: Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures, including patient prep, setup, and recovery Performing radiology, phlebotomy, SQ injections, and laboratory sample collection Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care Performing dental prophylaxis and advanced dentistry, including extractions where permitted by law Monitoring inpatient care and supporting patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation Reviewing treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces Schedule and compensation: Compensation: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour, for each hour worked This is a full-time or part-time position with a flexible schedule, Monday-Friday, with one Saturday (7:30 AM-1:00 PM) every 4-6 weeks and an occasional Sunday rotation once every 3 months if inpatient care is required. No on-call or emergency hours.
