Medical Director – Veterinarian Kootenay Region, British Columbia, Canada | $90,000–$200,000 | Mixed or Small Animal | Partnership Opportunity | Performance Bonus | Signing/Relocation Assistance Ready to take the next step into veterinary leadership — with the potential to eventually become an owner? An established veterinary hospital in the Kootenay Region of British Columbia is looking for an experienced veterinarian to join the team as Medical Director. Previous Medical Director experience is preferred, but it isn't required. An experienced veterinarian who enjoys mentoring others, communicates well, and is ready to take on greater leadership responsibility will also be considered. For the right veterinarian, there is also an opportunity to explore partnership and practice ownership, providing a potential path to building equity in the hospital. The Opportunity You'll lead and work alongside a team that currently includes: * 3 full-time Associate Veterinarians * 4 Registered Veterinary Technologists * Experienced veterinary support staff The current caseload is approximately: * 70% small animal * 30% large animal Large animal work primarily consists of dairy, along with some beef and equine medicine. There is also significant opportunity to expand the hospital's equine caseload. Veterinarians with mixed animal experience are welcome, as are experienced small animal veterinarians interested in leadership. Small animal/equine and small animal/dairy backgrounds can both be a strong fit. Clinical Resources The hospital is well equipped to support both small and large animal medicine, including: * In-house laboratory * In-house pharmacy * Digital radiography * Digital dental radiography * Portable radiography * Medical-grade laser * In-house and portable ultrasound * Large and small animal surgical equipment Leadership The Medical Director will play an important role in supporting clinical quality, communication, mentorship, and the continued development of the veterinary team. The ideal veterinarian brings: * Strong clinical experience * Excellent communication skills * High degree of integrity * Positive, collaborative leadership style * Experience mentoring early-career veterinarians * Interest in helping develop both people and the practice Experienced Medical Directors are encouraged to apply, but this could also be an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who has demonstrated leadership ability and is ready for their first formal Medical Director position.
