Requirements
We're looking for a Veterinary Assistant to support our team of veterinarians and LVTs. We're an AAHA-accredited, locally owned practice with a mission to help pets live happier, healthier, longer, and pain-free lives. Responsibilities Get patients into exam rooms, get history, and take basic vitals. Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations Feed, groom, and weigh animals Clean cages, exam rooms, and facility when needed Sterilize equipment and clean examination tables and rooms Soothe upset or frightened animals Administer medication under supervision Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet Help with surgical and general anesthesia setup Help in cases of emergencies Keep accurate records and logs Acquire/maintain Veterinary Medication Clerk Certification within 3 months of hire. (We will help with the process) Maintain a self-assessment and improvement list. Skills Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals Excellent communication skills Patient and caring personality Ability to follow instructions properly Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs) Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs) A high school diploma is required A Veterinary Assistant Certification is a plus
