The Oncology Service - Richmond is seeking a proficient Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our radiation oncology team. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assisting with the efficiency of the oncologist by anticipating the doctor’s needs and providing exceptional and compassionate patient care, acquiring accurate patient histories, recordkeeping and invoicing, and client communication and education as directed by the veterinarian. Flawless IV catheter placement for chemotherapy and anesthetic use. Administration of chemotherapy, induction, and monitoring of general anesthesia/sedation for radiation treatment patients and CT scan patients. Low-stress handling techniques and restraint of patients during physical exams and diagnostic sample collection, proficient venipuncture. Advanced understanding of patient positioning for CT scans and radiation treatments a plus. Obtaining radiographs, performing CT scans, delivery of treatment plans on the linear accelerator – training provided. Utilizing Idexx in-house laboratory equipment Qualifications and Skills Licensed Veterinary Technicians - Virginia licensure required High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years’ experience as a licensed veterinary technician required Radiation therapists are encouraged to apply Fear Free Certification preferred, but not required Benefits: The salary range for this position is up to $26-32/hr - Salary commensurate with experience level.
