Veterinarian Medical Director - Austin, TX Leadership Stipend | Base + Production | No Negative Accrual | 4 Weeks PTO | Relocation The Opportunity An established small animal practice in Austin is seeking a Veterinarian Medical Director to lead its clinical team while continuing to practice medicine. This is an opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys being in the hospital and seeing patients but also wants a meaningful role in shaping medical standards, developing other veterinarians, and influencing the overall direction and culture of the practice. You’ll partner closely with the Practice Manager and hospital leadership while working alongside an established team of veterinarians and experienced support staff. The Leadership Role As Medical Director, you’ll serve as the clinical leader of the hospital and help ensure consistently high standards of medicine and patient care. Your responsibilities will include: • Mentoring and supporting Associate Veterinarians • Helping establish and maintain medical standards • Supporting clinical development across the DVM team • Partnering with the Practice Manager on hospital goals and strategy • Identifying opportunities to improve patient and client care • Supporting a positive, collaborative hospital culture • Contributing to veterinarian recruitment and retention • Helping guide the hospital's continued growth and development This is designed to be a collaborative leadership position rather than one where the Medical Director is expected to manage every aspect of hospital operations independently. The Medicine The hospital is an established small animal general practice providing comprehensive care to its patients and long-standing client base. You'll continue practicing clinically while also having the opportunity to influence how medicine is delivered throughout the hospital. Experienced Team You won't be stepping into the leadership role without support. The hospital has an established team of veterinarians, nursing staff, and support professionals, along with a Practice Manager who partners with the Medical Director on hospital operations and strategy. The broader organization also provides clinical, operational, training, and leadership resources so the Medical Director can focus on both practicing medicine and developing the hospital's clinical team.
