Job Description

A full-service, AAHA accredited small animal hospital in the Bellaire area of Houston, TX is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their team! This privately-owned, AAHA-accredited small animal practice has been proudly serving Houston area pet owners for several years, offering wellness care, sick visits, surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine to a caseload of dogs and cats. The team is growing and is now looking for a second full-time veterinarian to join a collaborative, close-knit hospital. If you have an interest in exotic medicine, the team are happy for someone to grow this in addition to their small animal service. The facility is equipped with digital full-body and digital dental X-ray, a brand new IDEXX hematology and chemistry in-house lab, microscope, centrifuge, and dedicated surgical and dental suites for routine soft tissue surgery, spays and neuters, dentals, and extractions. A brand-new ultrasound unit is also on-site, with training and CE support available to the right candidate who wants to build this skill. You will be supported by a dedicated practice manager and an on-site medical director with a particular interest in advanced soft tissue surgery, alongside a cross-trained team of technicians and assistants (roughly 2.5 support staff per doctor). The practice takes a fear-free approach for pets, owners, and staff, and mentorship is genuinely built into the culture rather than a box-ticking exercise. You can expect a consistent 4 day work week, with one half day Saturday every other week. Surgery mornings are typically completed before early afternoon, and there is no on-call or overnight emergency work required. Key Highlights • AAHA-accredited, independently-owned, full-service small animal practice in Bellaire, Houston, TX • Digital full-body and dental X-ray, brand new IDEXX in-house lab, microscope, and centrifuge • Dedicated surgical and dental suites, plus a brand-new ultrasound unit with training provided • 30 minute appointments with a focus on high-quality, relationship based medicine • On-site practice manager and medical director with an interest in advanced soft tissue surgery • Strong support staff ratio of around 2.5 technicians and assistants per doctor • Four-day work week with every other Saturday morning, no on-call or overnight emergency work • Incredibly supportive and development-focussed culture so you can focus and develop in your own clinical interests • Open to a veterinarian with an interest in exotics as the caseload grows About You • DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US • You hold (or are eligible for) a Veterinary State License in Texas • Roughly 2 to 5 years of clinical experience preferred • Comfortable performing routine surgery and dentistry, including spays, neuters, and extractions • Motivated, team-oriented, and interested in growing alongside the practice • Interest in ultrasound, advanced surgery, or internal medicine is a plus, but not required Benefits • Base salary of $125,000 to $145,000 depending on experience • 21% production, no negative accrual • 401(k) with 4% match • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • PTO allowance • CE allowance + 3 additional days to attend • $1,000 annual allowance toward licenses and memberships • Life insurance options • And more!
