Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas is an emergency facility in Grapevine established in 1998. Our facility was created and is supported by local veterinarians. Its purpose is to provide emergency and critical care services to companion and exotic animals during the hours when your primary veterinarian’s office is unavailable. We are also able to provide walk-in emergency care for those times when your primary care veterinarian is unable to see your sick or injured pet on a same-day basis. Additionally, we provide around-the-clock care when your pet needs 24-hour care and help facilitate care between the specialists within the Veterinary Specialty Center.

Overnight Differential for full overnight shifts Schedule Per Diem (opportunities available) Overnight Swing shift Weekend Holiday Job Description The Per Diem Emergency Veterinary Technician provides exceptional nursing care and technical support for critically ill and injured patients in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role works closely with veterinarians to perform advanced diagnostics, treatments, anesthesia monitoring, and supportive care while ensuring compassionate patient care and excellent client communication. As a key member of the emergency team, you'll play an essential role in triage, stabilization, patient monitoring, and emergency procedures while helping maintain efficient hospital operations during periods of increased caseload and staffing support needs. Responsibilities Provide compassionate nursing care to emergency and hospitalized patients throughout treatment and recovery. Place IV catheters, collect blood samples, administer medications, and manage IV fluid therapy. Assist with emergency diagnostics, treatments, and supportive care procedures. Monitor anesthesia and assist with emergency and surgical procedures. Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and promptly communicate changes in patient condition. Safely restrain and handle patients while maintaining comfort and minimizing stress. Assist with post-operative patient monitoring and recovery. Accurately document treatments, diagnostics, and patient observations within medical records. Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and clients regarding patient care plans. Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment and emergency areas. Support hospital operations by providing coverage during high-volume periods, vacations, and staffing gaps. Qualifications Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred. Experienced Veterinary Technicians with a minimum of two years of veterinary experience are encouraged to apply. Previous emergency or specialty veterinary experience preferred. Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and patient monitoring. Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance preferred. Knowledge of radiology safety and fluid therapy. Experience administering medications via SQ, IM, and IV routes. Proficiency in phlebotomy, catheter placement, and patient restraint techniques. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
