Barton Creek Animal Clinic provides a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area. Our services also include integrative medicine and alternative services, such as acupuncture, chiropractic and western and Chinese herbal medicine, for clients interested in those modalities for their pet. Barton Creek Animal Clinic was established in 1982 by Dr. Van Winkle who still works here part time. Dr. John Unflat is the primary veterinarian. We have over 40 five star reviews on Google and "People Love us on Yelp". We work together like a family, this is not a corporate run practice. We are looking for a full or part time Veterinary Technician with experience. The Vet Tech job description will include: patient restraint, assist with treatments on out patients and hospitalized patients, process lab samples, maintenance and cleanliness of facility and equipment, help in exam rooms typing medical history notes and assist with radiographs. The Technician will place IV catheters and draw blood samples from multiple patients daily. He/she will among other tech duties: scale and polish teeth, take dental radiographs, administer SQ fluids and injections and will be responsible for patient monitoring and surgical assistance. Care of surgical supplies which include cleaning, wrapping, and sterilizing the surgical instruments and soft supplies. You will also help maintain inventory of medical and surgical supplies. You will help train tech assistants to assist you. Requirements: Applicants must be over 18 years of age. You must get along with others and be a team player, and have reliable transportation to and from work. You are expected to acknowledge your shifts through the WhenIWork Ap and be on time to your scheduled shifts. The applicant must have a strong desire to work with animals in a veterinary clinic, be able to lift a patient (or help lift larger patients) on table and hold it for treatment and lift and carry 50 lbs. You must have veterinary clinic experience. You will be required to type medical notes for the doctor during exams so the ability to spell and type are necessary. You must be legally allowed to work in the USA and give permission for a background check and random drug testing. Health insurance is available after the probation period at your expense through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. We reimburse for Vision Coverage via the AVMA plan after the probation period. Paid time off (4 hours a month if full time, increasing with seniority) accrues after the probation period. Bonuses are paid after the probation period and are discretionary. We are currently (Covid-19 hours) open M-T-W-F 8-4:30 pm, Thurs 8-1 and Sat 8-12 pm. Schedules vary depending on if working Saturday or not.
