About the Medical Director Role We're seeking a veterinarian who is excited to serve as both a clinical leader and a champion for the team. In this role, you'll partner with the hospital team and regional leadership to help foster a positive medical culture, support clinical excellence, and identify opportunities for the practice to continue growing. You'll have a voice in the direction of the hospital while continuing to practice medicine and build meaningful relationships with your patients, clients, and team. As Medical Director, You'll: Provide high-quality small animal medicine, surgery, and preventive care Serve as a trusted clinical resource for the veterinary team Help establish and maintain strong medical standards and protocols Support and mentor associate veterinarians, including early-career doctors Encourage collaboration between doctors and the veterinary support team Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive hospital culture Help identify opportunities to expand services and improve patient care Build strong relationships with clients and the local community Partner with hospital and regional leadership on practice initiatives Encourage continuing education and professional development Help recruit and retain talented veterinary professionals Advocate for your team while maintaining a healthy and collaborative work environment This is a hands-on leadership role for a veterinarian who wants to make a difference-not just in the medicine we practice, but in the people and pets we serve. The ideal candidate will have: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine (or equivalent certification for international graduates) Active Texas veterinary license in good standing, or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date Successful completion of the NAVLE 5+ years of clinical veterinary experience preferred Previous leadership or Medical Director experience is a plus, but strong emerging leaders are encouraged to apply Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A collaborative, team-oriented leadership style A passion for mentoring and developing other veterinarians Commitment to high-quality, evidence-based medicine A genuine interest in building lasting relationships with clients and their pets Dedication to continuous learning and professional development A positive attitude and desire to contribute to a healthy hospital culture Core Competencies Small Animal Medicine Preventive & Wellness Care Companion Animal Health Veterinary Diagnostics Surgery & Dentistry Client Communication Case Management Team Leadership Associate Mentorship & Development Medical Quality & Standards Medical Record Documentation Team Collaboration Relationship Building Professional Development Practice Growth & Innovation Compensation & Benefits We believe our Medical Directors deserve to be well-supported, well-compensated, and empowered to lead.
