Veterinarian Medical Director - Memphis, TN Leadership Stipend + Production | No Negative Accrual | GP + Urgent Care | Sign-On + Relocation The Opportunity An established small animal hospital in Memphis is seeking an experienced Veterinarian Medical Director to provide clinical leadership while remaining actively involved in patient care. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a veterinarian who wants greater influence over medical standards, doctor development, hospital culture, and clinical performance without stepping away from practicing medicine. You’ll work in partnership with practice leadership while serving as a mentor, clinical resource, and advocate for high-quality medicine across the hospital. Compensation With Leadership Upside The compensation structure recognizes both your clinical contribution and the additional responsibility of medical leadership. Clinical Leadership As Medical Director, you’ll help set the tone for medicine and veterinarian development across the hospital. Your responsibilities will include: • Guiding and maintaining clinical standards • Coaching and developing Associate Veterinarians • Mentoring doctors and supporting professional growth • Supporting veterinarian recruiting and retention • Partnering with practice leadership on hospital performance • Helping create a collaborative, positive clinical culture • Using data and operational insight to support decision-making • Promoting strong communication across the veterinary team • Maintaining high standards of patient care and medical ethics This is an opportunity to lead through both your clinical expertise and your ability to develop others. The Medicine The hospital provides comprehensive small animal medicine with a diverse caseload that includes: • Wellness and preventive care • Sick and complex medical appointments • Dentistry • General surgery • Diagnostics • Urgent care • Emergency cases presenting during regular hospital hours For a veterinarian who enjoys the variety of GP but also wants exposure to more medically interesting and time-sensitive cases, the caseload provides a nice balance. A Hands-On Medical Director Role This is not a position designed to move an experienced veterinarian away from patients and into a primarily administrative role. You’ll continue practicing medicine while having a meaningful voice in how the hospital operates clinically, how veterinarians are supported and developed, and how medical standards evolve. The role is particularly well suited for a veterinarian who enjoys mentoring and wants their next career step to include leadership without giving up clinical practice.
