Our team includes over 20 compassionate and highly trained Licensed Veterinary Technicians, numerous veterinary assistants, other support staff, and supportive administration.

Animal Emergency & Specialty Center – Knoxville is seeking two Full-Time Veterinary Receptionists to join our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital. We are hiring for: 1️⃣ Day Shift Receptionist Ideal schedule: 6:00am–4:00pm or 7:00am–5:00pm 1️⃣ Evening/Swing Shift Receptionist Ideal schedule: 4:00pm–2:00am or 5:00pm–3:00am We also offer the option of three 12-hour shifts per week for candidates who prefer a condensed schedule. Final scheduling will rotate and includes weekend and holiday requirements. AESC Knoxville is a 24/7 Emergency & Specialty Veterinary Hospital providing advanced medical, surgical, and critical care services. Our reception team plays a crucial role in supporting clients during high-stress and emotional situations. This is not a typical general practice front desk role — we are looking for professionals with prior healthcare, emergency, or high-volume medical reception experience who can remain calm, organized, and compassionate in a fast-paced environment. As a Veterinary Receptionist in an emergency hospital, you are the first point of contact for pet owners experiencing urgent and often emotional situations. Your ability to communicate clearly, multitask efficiently, and provide steady support directly impacts patient care and client trust. 🐾 What You’ll Do Client Service & Front Desk Operations Greet clients professionally and compassionately during emergency and specialty visits Manage high call volume and multi-line phone systems Accurately check patients in and out Maintain efficient patient flow between reception and medical teams Emergency Communication Communicate clearly with clients regarding wait times, triage processes, and updates Support clients through stressful and time-sensitive situations Relay accurate information between doctors, technicians, and pet owners Administrative & Financial Duties Process payments and manage point-of-sale transactions accurately Maintain detailed and confidential medical records Assist with scheduling specialty rechecks and follow-up appointments Team Collaboration Work closely with ER doctors, specialty teams, and technicians Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area Support overall hospital efficiency during peak caseload times 🎯 What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare, veterinary, emergency, dental, or medical reception setting Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Strong multitasking and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Comfortable working evenings, rotating weekends, and holidays Dependable and adaptable with strong attention to detail Preferred Experience Veterinary emergency or specialty hospital experience Familiarity with veterinary practice management software Experience handling difficult or emotional client interactions Schedule Details Full-Time position Rotating weekends and holidays required Day Shift and Evening/Swing Shift openings available Option for 3x12 hour shift schedule Final schedule determined based on hospital needs Compensation & Benefits Full-Time Associates | AESC Knoxville | An Innovetive Petcare Hospital We recognize that experienced healthcare and veterinary reception professionals bring tremendous value to our hospital. We have the latest specialized surgery and diagnostic instrumentation and equipment including 16-slice CT scanner, Vivid iQ echocardiogram platform, digital radiology, ultrasound systems, fluoroscopy unity, endoscopy, high-def Storz tower with new laparoscopic equipment, Arthrex equipment, LigaSure, Autocon III, Storz Ho-YAG laser, Synthes locking plates, and ESF equipment. In 2027, we will be completing our 20,000-square-foot specialty expansion and we will be adding Neurology, Cardiology, and other specialists to our team, as well as a new MRI scanner, CT scanner, linear accelerator, IR suite with ceiling-mounted fluoroscopy, and surgical suites measuring at least 18’ x 18’.
