Responsibilities The Mixed Animal Veterinarian will be responsible for: Providing comprehensive medical examinations and diagnostic work-ups for equine and small animal patients. Developing effective treatment plans based on clinical findings and diagnostic results. Performing surgical procedures and dental care as required. Conducting diagnostic procedures using advanced veterinary technology. Communicating clearly with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventative care. Maintaining accurate medical records and patient documentation. Prescribing medications and following controlled substance regulations. Monitoring hospitalized patients and participating in daily case rounds. Supporting efficient hospital workflows and maintaining high standards of patient care. Collaborating with veterinary technicians, support staff, and hospital leadership. Promoting teamwork, education, and continuous improvement within the practice. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school. Active veterinary licence or eligibility to obtain licensure in South Dakota. Ability to obtain and maintain DEA registration. Previous veterinary practice experience preferred. Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills. Confidence performing surgery and dentistry procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
