Requirements
We are working on behalf of an independently owned, two hospital small animal practice in Camden and Elgin, SC that is looking to welcome a full-time Associate Veterinarian. Both sites are owned and run by two practicing veterinarians who are on the floor alongside the team every week, and the Elgin hospital has recently been renovated and more than doubled in size to support the practice as it grows. This is straightforward, well run general practice. Appointments are 30 minutes as standard, the schedule stops booking around 4:45pm so the team is out by 6:30pm, and there is no emergency caseload in house, with emergencies referred to a nearby emergency hospital. The surgical suite runs two tables and surgery days are shared across the doctors, supported by digital x-ray, ultrasound, and an endoscope. The owners aim for two support staff per doctor, usually an experienced technician plus an assistant, and the team is cross trained and encouraged to work to the top of their skill set. Surgery is preferred but not required. The owners have hired and trained new graduates successfully before and are happy to do it again, with shadowing and a proper mentorship pathway rather than being left to sink or swim. Weekends are light, with six doctors rotating brief morning and afternoon checks on boarding and hospitalized patients rather than client facing appointments. Flexible and part time schedules are genuinely considered, which is part of why this vacancy exists, and there is scope for a four day week depending on how the schedule builds. Camden and Elgin sit about fifteen minutes apart in Kershaw County, within easy reach of Columbia.
