Job Description

We are working on behalf of a well-established, full-service small animal hospital in Anderson, SC that is looking to welcome an Associate Veterinarian to its team. This is a true hybrid role, with a caseload of roughly 55% emergency and 45% general practice, so you can build your skills across wellness, surgery, urgent care, and emergency medicine without having to choose one path. The hospital is built for mentorship and regularly works alongside DVM and veterinary technician students, so teaching and collaboration are part of everyday life here. You will be supported by 16 credentialed technicians and 24 veterinary assistants, with GP doctors typically enjoying a 2.5:1 support staff ratio, which lets you focus on medicine rather than paperwork. The schedule is designed to give you real time away from work: 14 to 16 shifts per month, including a rotation of four consecutive overnights followed by 5 to 7 consecutive days off, with on-call doctor support available when needed. The ER also stops accepting new cases after midnight, so the overnight team can focus on hospitalized patients, surgery, and existing cases. Whether you are an experienced DVM looking for variety or a newer graduate keen to put your training to work, you will be well supported here. Compensation is flexible, with a choice between a guaranteed base salary or a production model, and there is no negative accrual. The hospital sits just off the highway from Greenville, with a more affordable lakeside lifestyle near Lake Hartwell and Charlotte and Atlanta within easy reach for a weekend away. Key Highlights • True hybrid caseload of roughly 55% ER and 45% GP, including surgery • 14 to 16 shifts per month with 5 to 7 consecutive days off after overnight rotations • ER stops taking new cases after midnight, so overnights focus on existing patients • 16 credentialed technicians and 24 veterinary assistants, with a 2.5:1 support ratio in GP • Strong teaching culture with regular DVM and technician students on site • On-call doctor support available when you need it • Choice of guaranteed salary or production, with no negative accrual • Affordable lakeside living near Lake Hartwell with easy access to Greenville About You • DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US • You hold, or are eligible for, licensure in South Carolina • Genuine interest in both general practice and emergency medicine • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset • Experienced DVMs and newer graduates looking for mentorship are both welcome Benefits • Base salary of $120,000 to $165,000, or production at 23% professional services, 10% in-practice pharmacy, and 5% online pharmacy • Health, dental, and vision insurance • 401(k) with up to 5% company match • Paid parental leave • CE allowance plus access to an in-house training academy • Professional dues coverage and student loan assistance • Pet care benefits and virtual mental health support • Relocation assistance and recruiting incentives open to discussion
