Medical Director Veterinarian Location: West Chester, Pennsylvania Schedule: Full-time (Flexible scheduling available) Compensation: $170,000 to $190,000 + production bonuses + up to $75,000 in sign-on/relocation packages About the Role: A well-established, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital in West Chester, Pennsylvania is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian to lead their clinical team while continuing to deliver high-quality patient care. This role offers a blend of hands-on medicine and leadership, providing the opportunity to shape medical standards, mentor veterinarians, and drive hospital performance. The position is ideal for an experienced veterinarian looking to take the next step into a strategic leadership role within a supportive, growth-focused environment. About the Practice: This full-service veterinary hospital is equipped with advanced technology to support comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care, including in-house diagnostics, digital radiography (including dental), ultrasound, and modern surgical tools. The practice also offers specialised services such as rehabilitation and pain management, supported by dedicated facilities and advanced equipment. With a strong support staff-to-doctor ratio, Fear Free-certified team members, and access to referral networks, veterinarians are empowered to deliver exceptional patient care. Backed by a national veterinary network, the hospital combines local clinical autonomy with extensive operational and professional support. Responsibilities: Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care to small animal patients. Lead and mentor associate veterinarians, supporting professional development and performance. Establish and maintain clinical protocols, medical standards, and quality of care. Partner with hospital leadership to manage operations, budgeting, and financial performance. Oversee compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Manage client concerns, patient care issues, and referral relationships. Conduct team meetings, support recruitment, and contribute to hospital growth initiatives. Foster a collaborative, positive, and high-performing team culture. Candidate Profile: DVM or VMD from an accredited institution. Active (or eligible) Pennsylvania veterinary license. 3–5+ years of clinical experience, with leadership experience preferred. Strong diagnostic, surgical, and dental skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities. Passion for mentoring, team development, and delivering high-quality care. Ability to manage both clinical and operational responsibilities effectively.
