Job Description

We are working on behalf of a well established, integrative small animal general practice in Doylestown, PA that is looking for a Relief Veterinarian to cover around two shifts per week on an ongoing basis. The hospital is set in a beautifully restored 1700s farmhouse on a large property, and the team blends conventional medicine with holistic care. Some doctors practice strictly conventional medicine, others lean holistic, and everyone works together. Medicine here is thoughtful and purposeful. The team favors a proper diagnostic workup over reflexive treatment, takes a conservative approach to vaccines, and is selective about the products it stocks. Many clients feed raw diets or use acupuncture and other complementary therapies, so the right relief doctor will be open minded and comfortable talking through those choices without judgment. You do not need holistic training, although acupuncture or other integrative experience would be a real plus. Shifts are built around 6-hour blocks during the week, so you will not be asked to stretch into a 10-hour day. Relief work is appointments only, with standard 30-minute GP visits and one or two urgent fit-in slots per shift. There is no surgery for the relief doctor and no overnight hospitalization, and anything beyond GP scope is referred to local specialty and emergency hospitals. You will have a certified technician in the building and a dedicated assistant in your appointments, along with recently upgraded digital radiography. The practice is flexible on days and would love to find one consistent relief doctor the team can get to know. Key Highlights • Around two relief shifts per week on an ongoing basis • 6-hour weekday shifts, with no forced 10-hour days • Appointments only, with no surgery required of the relief doctor • 30-minute appointments plus one or two urgent fit-in slots per shift • Certified technician on site and a dedicated floating assistant • Brand new digital radiography, with dental radiography being upgraded • Integrative practice that blends conventional and holistic medicine • No overnight hospitalization, with specialty and ER referral nearby • Flexible on days, built around your availability About You • DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US • You hold, or are eligible for, licensure in Pennsylvania • Confident in small animal general practice and internal medicine workups • Open minded and non-judgmental about raw diets, acupuncture, and other holistic choices • Comfortable working alongside holistic colleagues and asking questions where something is new to you • Acupuncture certification or integrative training is a plus, but not required Benefits • Competitive hourly rate, paid for the hours you work • Consistent, recurring shifts rather than one-off coverage • Schedule built around your availability • Predictable 6-hour shifts with strong support staff • A practice that values thorough, evidence-based diagnostics • Opportunity to discuss a permanent position if it turns out to be a great mutual fit
