Veterinarian – Medical Director - Greater Rochester, New York Full-Time | Clinical Leadership | Sign-On Bonus + Relocation | Teaching & Mentorship | Exotics Optional An established small animal practice in the Greater Rochester area is seeking an experienced veterinarian to serve as Medical Director and help lead the hospital's continued clinical and team development. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to continue practicing medicine while mentoring doctors, developing teams, strengthening hospital culture, and helping shape the clinical direction of the practice. The Opportunity As Medical Director, you'll partner closely with practice management and hospital leadership while maintaining a meaningful clinical presence. Leadership responsibilities may include: • Providing clinical and medical leadership • Maintaining high standards of patient care • Mentoring and developing veterinarians • Teaching and sharing clinical knowledge • Supporting doctor and staff development • Partnering with practice management on hospital strategy • Identifying opportunities to improve clinical workflows • Strengthening communication and collaboration • Supporting quality and efficiency initiatives • Helping guide continued hospital growth • Maintaining a clinical caseload This isn't a position designed to move you away from veterinary medicine. Teaching & Mentorship A passion for teaching and helping others succeed is particularly valuable in this position. The Medical Director will have opportunities to support veterinarians as they work through cases, develop new clinical skills, strengthen decision-making, and continue growing professionally. An experienced veterinarian who has naturally become a mentor or clinical resource for colleagues may also find this an excellent next step into formal leadership. Clinical Environment The hospital provides comprehensive companion animal medicine within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Doctors can expect a broad general practice caseload that may include: • Wellness and preventive medicine • Sick-patient care • Diagnostics • Surgery • Dentistry • Chronic disease management • Senior patient care • Client education • General companion animal medicine The hospital also treats select exotic pets. Experience with exotic medicine is not required, but a veterinarian with an interest or background in exotics would have an opportunity to continue developing that area of practice. Interest or experience in exotic medicine is welcome but not required.
