This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to influence clinical quality, develop people, strengthen hospital culture, and continue practicing medicine. The practice operates in a high-volume environment with a strong emphasis on accessible veterinary care, preventive medicine, and surgery. The Opportunity As Medical Director, you'll partner closely with practice leadership to help guide the hospital clinically and operationally while supporting the continued development of the veterinary team. Clinical Environment The hospital provides high-volume, community-focused veterinary care with an emphasis on efficient, compassionate medicine. The clinical environment includes: • High-volume spay and neuter surgery • Preventive medicine • Vaccinations • General medical care • Diagnostics • Client education • Community-focused veterinary medicine This environment can be particularly appealing to veterinarians with experience or interest in community medicine, shelter medicine, access-to-care initiatives, high-volume surgery, or efficient clinical operations. Compensation Annual full-time ProSal compensation starts at $170,000 and is negotiable based on credentials and experience. The overall compensation package includes: • $170,000+ starting annual ProSal • Quarterly ProSal bonuses • No negative accrual • Quarterly Medical Director stipend • Medical Director discretionary fund • Sign-on bonus • Moving allowance • Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience The combination of clinical production and additional Medical Director compensation provides earning potential beyond the starting ProSal amount. Medical Director Support In addition to clinical compensation, the Medical Director receives resources specifically tied to the leadership role. These include: • Quarterly Medical Director stipend • Medical Director discretionary fund • Leadership and professional development resources • Partnership with practice management and broader operational leadership These resources allow the Medical Director to influence both clinical quality and team development rather than simply carrying an administrative title. Benefits Eligible team members have access to a comprehensive benefits package that may include: • Medical and life insurance • Short- and long-term disability coverage • 401(k) with employer match • Paid parental leave • Mental health and wellness resources • Childcare and elder-care support • Family-planning resources • Student loan management tools and assistance • Professional development resources Who We're Looking For • DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree • Active New York veterinary license in good standing or ability to obtain one prior to starting • Active DEA license or eligibility to obtain DEA licensure • Strong clinical foundation • Comfortable working within a high-volume environment • Strong surgical skills or interest in high-volume surgery • Demonstrated leadership ability • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Passion for developing veterinary teams • Collaborative leadership approach • Commitment to compassionate, accessible veterinary care • Ability to balance clinical and leadership responsibilities Veterinarians with previous Medical Director experience are encouraged to apply, as are experienced doctors who have demonstrated strong clinical leadership and are ready to take the next step formally.
