Job Description

Veterinarian – Medical Director - East Hampton, New York $150,000–$180,000 Base + Production | Partnership Opportunity | Medical Director Stipend | Onsite Housing | No On-Call The Opportunity An established small animal hospital in East Hampton is seeking an experienced veterinarian to step into a Medical Director role with a pathway to partnership. This is an opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to continue practicing medicine while having a meaningful voice in how a hospital operates, grows, and develops its team. You’ll inherit an established client base and hospital infrastructure while having the opportunity to influence clinical standards, mentor the team, expand services, and help shape the next phase of the practice. For someone who has considered hospital ownership but doesn’t necessarily want to build or operate a practice entirely on their own, this offers a compelling alternative. Compensation & Housing • $150,000–$180,000 base salary • Additional production compensation • Medical Director stipend based on experience and DVM team • Sign-on bonus • Retention bonus • Relocation support • Partnership/equity opportunity • Affordable onsite housing available A renovated 3-bedroom, 1-bath cottage is available onsite for $1,250 per month plus utilities. Housing is limited to one cottage and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Leadership & Partnership This is more than a title. The Medical Director will have the opportunity to directly influence the clinical and long-term direction of the hospital. You’ll have the ability to: • Lead medical quality and clinical standards • Mentor and develop veterinarians and support staff • Help shape hospital culture and workflows • Influence services and future growth • Participate in long-term strategy • Build equity through a pathway to partnership • Practice medicine while developing as a hospital leader The partnership structure provides business and operational resources behind the scenes while allowing veterinary leaders to remain closely involved in the direction and success of their hospital. Clinical Environment The hospital provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care for dogs and cats with access to: • Digital radiography • Dental radiography • In-house laboratory capabilities • Echocardiogram capabilities • Dentistry • Soft tissue surgery • Advanced orthopedic procedures, including TPLO and TTA • Acupuncture and integrative treatment options The practice combines traditional veterinary medicine with complementary treatment options, allowing for a broad approach to patient care. Schedule & Support • Full-time leadership position • Last appointment at 4:30 PM • No on-call responsibilities • Approximately 2:1 staff-to-doctor support • Experienced clinical and client-service team • Seasonal caseload with busier late spring through early fall months and a steadier off-season Benefits • Medical, dental, and vision coverage • Retirement benefits • Paid time off and holidays • Paid CE days and CE allowance • Relocation assistance • Professional dues and licensing fees covered • AVMA-PLIT coverage • Pet care discounts • Uniform allowance • Employee Assistance Program Who We’re Looking For • DVM or VMD degree • Eligible for or currently holding a New York veterinary license • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience • Interest in leadership, mentorship, and hospital growth • Comfortable with comprehensive small animal medicine • Collaborative leadership style • Interested in having a voice in the future of the hospital • Long-term interest in partnership/equity strongly welcomed Why Consider This Opportunity This role brings together several things that are difficult to find in one opportunity: hands-on medicine, genuine hospital leadership, a pathway to equity, strong earning potential, no on-call responsibilities, and affordable housing in East Hampton. For the right veterinarian, it offers the chance to help lead an established hospital rather than simply joining one — with the infrastructure and resources behind you to help grow the practice without having to do it alone.
