Job Description

CO-OWNER VETERINARIAN - Hartsdale, New York Practice Ownership | Base + Production + Profit Participation | Established Hospital | Operational Support | Westchester County THE OPPORTUNITY Have you thought about owning a veterinary practice but don’t necessarily want to do it alone? An established small animal hospital in Westchester County is looking for an experienced veterinarian who is ready to take the next step from practicing medicine to helping lead and own a hospital. This is a structured co-ownership opportunity where you can build equity, participate in the financial success of the practice, and have a meaningful voice in its future — while continuing to practice medicine and lead the clinical team. You won’t simply work in the hospital. You’ll help shape where it goes next and share in its success. THE OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY This opportunity is designed for a veterinarian who wants the autonomy and financial upside of ownership with operational infrastructure and business support already in place. As a Partner DVM, you’ll have the opportunity to: • Build meaningful equity in an established veterinary hospital • Participate in practice performance and growth • Help set the clinical and strategic direction of the hospital • Influence staffing, scheduling, services, and future growth • Mentor and develop veterinarians and support staff • Maintain the hospital’s local identity and culture • Receive operational, financial, HR, recruiting, and marketing support This could be an excellent next step for an experienced Associate Veterinarian or Medical Director who wants ownership but would rather step into an established hospital than start from scratch. THE HOSPITAL The hospital has an established client base, experienced team, and strong foundation already in place. The caseload includes comprehensive small animal medicine with opportunities across: • Preventative and wellness care • Diagnostics • Internal medicine • Surgery • Dentistry • Client education and relationship-based medicine Strong staff-to-doctor support allows veterinarians to remain focused on practicing quality medicine while also having time to contribute to leadership and practice development. LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Leadership • Establish and maintain medical standards and protocols • Guide clinical decision-making and case management • Support high-quality patient care and client communication • Identify opportunities to expand services and clinical capabilities • Mentor and develop other veterinarians Practice & Team Leadership • Help recruit and onboard veterinarians and support staff • Develop and mentor the hospital team • Help shape scheduling and operational strategy • Build a collaborative, team-first culture • Participate in decisions affecting the future of the hospital Business & Financial Leadership • Participate in annual planning and performance reviews • Understand and help drive hospital performance • Identify opportunities for sustainable growth • Participate in marketing and community engagement • Share financially in the practice’s long-term success COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Competitive base salary • Production compensation • Profit participation • Long-term ownership/equity opportunity • Relocation assistance • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Employer retirement contribution • Generous PTO • Paid CE time and annual CE allowance • Licensing and professional dues covered • DEA and professional liability coverage • Professional membership and clinical resource subscriptions WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR • DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree • Active New York veterinary license or ability to obtain one • 3+ years of clinical experience preferred • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • Interest in leadership, mentoring, and practice development • Business-minded without losing sight of patient care • Genuine desire to become a veterinary practice owner WHY CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY You don’t have to choose between practicing medicine and building something of your own. This role provides an opportunity to step into an established hospital, influence its future, participate in its growth, and build equity — without taking on every aspect of practice ownership by yourself. For a veterinarian who has been waiting for the right path into ownership, this could be the opportunity to make that transition. This area also provides access to both Westchester County and New York City, including convenient Metro-North access for candidates who want suburban living while remaining connected to the city.
