Job Description

Associate Veterinarian - Westchester County, New York $130,000–$150,000 | 4-Day Week | Flexible Compensation | 3:1 Support | On-Site Specialist Access Salary range is $130,000 to $150,000 per year. We offer flexibility in compensation structure and are also open to either base salary only or production-based pay only. The Opportunity An established small animal hospital in Westchester County is looking for an experienced Associate Veterinarian to join a collaborative, well-supported team. This is a great fit for a confident veterinarian who enjoys comprehensive GP medicine but also values access to advanced clinical resources. Board-certified specialists are available on-site for select cases, giving doctors the ability to collaborate on more complex patients while continuing to practice in a community-based hospital environment. The practice is open to both full-time and part-time candidates and offers flexibility not only in scheduling, but also in how compensation is structured. Compensation – Choose the Structure That Works for You • $130,000–$150,000 annual salary range • Flexibility in compensation structure • Base salary option available • Production-based compensation option available • Relocation assistance available Rather than requiring every veterinarian to work under the same compensation model, the practice is willing to discuss the structure that makes the most sense for the individual doctor. Schedule • Full-time or part-time considered • Typical full-time schedule is 4 days per week • Every other Saturday • On-call rotation • Flexible scheduling options available Clinical Environment You’ll practice comprehensive small animal medicine for dogs and cats with opportunities across: • Wellness and preventative care • Internal medicine • Soft tissue surgery • Dentistry • Diagnostic imaging • Nutrition and long-term patient management • Complex case management with specialist collaboration Advanced Clinical Support One of the more interesting aspects of this hospital is access to board-certified specialists who are available on-site for advanced cases. Specialty support includes: • Orthopedics • Internal medicine • Cardiology • Radiology This creates an opportunity to manage more interesting and challenging cases while having additional expertise available when needed. Technology & Resources The hospital provides access to: • In-house laboratory diagnostics • Ultrasound • Digital radiography • Modern digital medical records • Surgical and dental capabilities Strong Doctor Support The hospital maintains approximately a 3:1 staff-to-doctor ratio with licensed veterinary technicians, experienced assistants, client-care professionals, and reception support. The goal is to allow doctors to focus their time on medicine, surgery, client communication, and clinical decision-making. Benefits • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Retirement benefits • Paid time off • Paid holidays • Paid CE days and CE allowance • Relocation assistance • Professional dues and licensing fees covered • Professional liability coverage • Employee Assistance Program Who We’re Looking For • DVM or VMD degree • Active New York veterinary license or ability to obtain one • Approximately 5+ years of small animal clinical experience preferred • Comfortable independently managing appointments • Confident with general surgery • Strong client communication skills • Collaborative and team-oriented • Interested in practicing with a high degree of clinical autonomy Future Partnership For a veterinarian interested in taking their career beyond an Associate position, future partnership opportunities may also be available. This could provide a longer-term path for a DVM who wants to become more involved in hospital leadership and potentially build equity in a veterinary practice. Why Consider This Opportunity This position offers a combination that can be difficult to find in a traditional GP setting: a 4-day full-time schedule, 3:1 support, flexible compensation options, clinical autonomy, and direct access to board-certified specialists. It’s especially well suited for an experienced veterinarian who wants to independently manage their cases while still having experienced colleagues and specialty resources available when a case becomes more complex.
