Job Description

Associate Veterinarian - Syracuse / Finger Lakes Area, New York $115,000–$130,000 + 20% ProSal | $10K Sign-On | No Weekends, On-Call or Holidays The Opportunity An established multi-doctor small animal practice in Central New York is looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join a supportive, experienced team. This is an especially attractive opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys comprehensive GP medicine, surgery, and dentistry but wants a schedule that leaves evenings and weekends for life outside the hospital. There are no weekend shifts, no on-call responsibilities, and no holiday coverage. Both experienced veterinarians and new graduates are welcome. Compensation • $115,000–$130,000 annual salary • 20% ProSal • No negative accrual • $10,000 sign-on bonus Schedule • Full-time • No weekends • No on-call • No holiday shifts • Last appointment at 5:30 PM • 9 paid holidays • 12 days PTO • Paid CE days • Your birthday off each year Clinical Environment The practice provides comprehensive care primarily for dogs and cats, with occasional pocket pets. You’ll have access to a broad range of medicine, diagnostics, and treatment capabilities, including: • Digital radiography • Digital dental radiography • Ultrasound • In-house laboratory capabilities • Soft tissue surgery • Dentistry • Pain management • Integrative medicine • Regenerative medicine options • Oxygen therapy capabilities The hospital also has regular access to mobile internal medicine support for more advanced diagnostics and procedures, allowing doctors to work through more complex cases without necessarily referring every patient outside the practice. Support That Lets You Practice Medicine The hospital maintains approximately a 2:1 staff-to-doctor ratio with experienced licensed technicians, veterinary assistants, and client service support. Doctors are encouraged to collaborate, bring forward new ideas, and explore additional services or areas of medicine they would like to develop. New Graduates Welcome A new graduate who wants to develop confidence in comprehensive GP medicine could be a strong fit. You’ll have the opportunity to build experience across: • Preventative and wellness medicine • Internal medicine • Surgery • Dentistry • Diagnostic imaging • Sick-patient care • Client communication and education Experienced veterinarians will have the ability to practice with greater autonomy while joining an established, collaborative team. Benefits • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Retirement benefits • 12 days PTO • 9 paid holidays • Paid CE days and CE allowance • Birthday off • Professional dues and licensing fees covered • Professional liability coverage • Pet care discounts • Uniform allowance • Bereavement leave • Employee Assistance Program Who We’re Looking For • DVM or VMD degree • Active New York veterinary license or ability to obtain one • New graduates and experienced veterinarians considered • Interest in comprehensive small animal medicine • Comfortable with or interested in developing surgery and dentistry skills • Collaborative and team-oriented • Interested in practicing quality medicine while maintaining a sustainable schedule Why Consider This Opportunity The schedule is what really separates this position from many traditional GP roles. You can continue practicing comprehensive medicine, surgery, and dentistry without sacrificing your weekends or being responsible for after-hours call. Add in a strong technician team, access to advanced diagnostics, paid holidays, your birthday off, and a production structure with no negative accrual, and this offers a compelling combination of clinical variety and quality of life.
