Job Description

Associate Veterinarian - Kinston, North Carolina $115,000–$140,000 | 4-Day Workweek | No Weekends | 3:1 Clinical Support The Opportunity An established small animal hospital in Eastern North Carolina is looking for a full-time Associate Veterinarian to join a supportive, well-equipped team. This is a particularly attractive opportunity for a veterinarian who wants comprehensive GP medicine without giving up their weekends. You’ll work a consistent 4-day week with no weekend obligations, supported by an experienced clinical team and approximately a 3:1 technician-to-doctor ratio. The hospital operates on an appointment-based model and provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care for small animal patients. Compensation & Schedule • $115,000–$140,000 annual salary • Full-time • 4-day workweek • No weekends • Monday–Friday hospital operations • After-hours emergencies handled outside the practice Clinical Environment You’ll have the opportunity to practice comprehensive small animal medicine across: • Wellness and preventative care • Internal medicine • Sick-patient appointments • Diagnostic workups • Dentistry • Soft tissue surgery • Digital imaging • In-house diagnostics • Laser therapy The appointment-based model provides structure to the day while allowing doctors to develop ongoing relationships with clients and patients. Technology & Resources The hospital is equipped with resources to support a broad GP caseload, including: • Digital radiography • Ultrasound • In-house laboratory diagnostics • Therapeutic laser • Dedicated surgical capabilities • Modern anesthesia equipment • Paperless medical records Strong Clinical Support One of the biggest advantages of this opportunity is the support surrounding the veterinarian. The hospital maintains approximately a 3:1 technician-to-doctor ratio, allowing doctors to spend more of their time practicing medicine, communicating with clients, performing procedures, and making clinical decisions. Professional Growth The practice supports continuing education and professional development with: • CE allowance • Paid CE days • Mentorship opportunities • Professional licensing and memberships covered Benefits • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Retirement plan • Paid time off • Paid CE days and CE allowance • Licensing fees covered • DEA fees covered • Professional liability coverage • Professional memberships covered • Relocation assistance Future Growth For veterinarians interested in building a longer-term future with the practice, potential partnership opportunities may also be available. This creates an option for a DVM who wants to start as an Associate while keeping the door open to greater leadership and potential ownership in the future. Who We’re Looking For • DVM or VMD degree • Active North Carolina veterinary license or ability to obtain one • Interest in comprehensive small animal medicine • Comfortable with or interested in surgery and dentistry • Strong client communication skills • Collaborative and team-oriented • Values having a predictable schedule and strong clinical support Why Consider This Opportunity A true 4-day workweek with no weekends is increasingly difficult to find in general practice. Here, you can maintain a comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental caseload while having your weekends consistently protected. Combined with a 3:1 support ratio, appointment-based medicine, modern diagnostics, professional development support, and relocation assistance, this offers a strong combination of clinical opportunity and quality of life.
