Westchester Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our highly respected general practice team in High Point, North Carolina. For more than 50 years, Westchester Veterinary Hospital has proudly served pets and families throughout the Triad, including High Point, Greensboro, Kernersville, Jamestown, and Thomasville. We are looking for someone who can confidently support hospital flow, partner closely with our veterinarians, and provide exceptional patient care across appointments, surgery, anesthesia, and daily clinical operations. At Westchester, we prioritize: High-quality medicine and individualized patient care Strong client education and communication A collaborative, supportive team culture Building trust with every patient and family we serve What You’ll Do Clinical & Technical Support Assist veterinarians with appointments, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures Perform technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, sample collection, and patient restraint Monitor anesthesia and support surgical procedures Prepare and maintain surgical equipment and treatment areas Administer medications and vaccinations as directed Provide compassionate nursing care for hospitalized patients Hospital Flow & Patient Care Support a high-volume general practice environment with efficiency and confidence Assist with scheduled appointments, drop-offs, and urgent patient needs Maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation Help ensure a smooth experience for patients, clients, and the medical team Client Communication Educate clients on preventative care, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions Build strong relationships through compassionate and professional communication Partner with the team to create an exceptional client experience What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant in a general practice, urgent care, or emergency setting Strong technical skills and confidence working independently Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy hospital environment Excellent communication and teamwork skills Comfortable working with canine and feline patients Preferred Qualifications RVT credential or eligibility to sit for the VTNE Experience supporting surgery, anesthesia monitoring, and dentistry procedures Experience supporting appointments, client education, and patient discharge instructions Familiarity with electronic medical records systems Physical Requirements & Working Conditions This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment while supporting patient care and daily hospital operations. Essential functions include, but are not limited to: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and remain active for extended periods throughout the workday Ability to safely restrain, handle, and assist with the movement of dogs, cats, and other veterinary patients Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with appropriate assistance when needed Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including cleaning, stocking, preparing treatment areas, and assisting with medical procedures Ability to work around animal dander, odors, bodily fluids, cleaning products, and medical equipment Ability to safely operate in a busy clinical environment where exposure to unexpected animal behavior, noise, and urgent medical situations may occur Ability to communicate effectively with clients, doctors, technicians, assistants, and hospital leadership About Westchester Veterinary Hospital Our team provides comprehensive veterinary services, including: Preventative wellness care and examinations Vaccinations and life-stage care Dental cleanings and oral health management Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery Diagnostics and in-house laboratory services We are committed to providing thoughtful, personalized medicine that helps pets live healthier, longer lives.
