Veterinarian - Edgewater, MD Full-Time $140,000 -$175,000 with production and sign-on bonus PetMedic Urgent Care Vet Clinic is looking to add compassionate and skilled full-time Urgent Care Veterinarian to our team. At PetMedic, you can help shape the exciting new world of veterinary urgent care. Our fast-paced environment means you’ll do something different every day, but with more regularity and stability than an emergency setting. As part of our team, you’ll work with the latest technology, stay ahead using educational training, and partner with experienced doctors to deliver the highest quality of care to the pet patients we all love. WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT Extended time off built into your schedule Flexibility in managing case flows and clinical decision-making Strong support staff and collaborative doctor coverage Defined case scope with ER transfer support for critical cases Technology and workflow designed to help youi leave on time On-site cardiology (CVCA Cardiac Care for Pets) WHAT YOU’LL DO Examine and diagnose diseases and injuries of pets (primarily dogs and cats), and treat surgically or medically Collaborate within our veterinary ecosystem, and communicate with referring veterinarians Participate in ongoing education, seminars, and training to stay at the top of your field SCHEDULE Full-time, rotating schedule designed to provide meaningful time off: Week 1: Work Wednesday–Thursday (5 days off with built in 3 day weekend off) Week 2: Work Monday–Tuesday and Friday–Sunday Shift Hours: Weekdays: 10am–8pm and Weekends: 10am–7pm No overnights. No on-call. A schedule you can plan your life with. Now you’ll actually have time to relax and not just recover, whether that’s strolling downtown Annapolis, exploring museums in Washington D.C., or simply unplugging for a few days by the river. WHAT YOU'LL SEE (AND WHAT YOU WON'T) Typical cases: GI Issues (vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite) Lethargy, limping, minor injuries Allergic reactions, skin and ear infections Bite wounds, abscesses, wounds, lacerations Urinary or constipation issues Coughing and sneezing Quality of Life Assessments What we defer to primary veterinarians or emergency and specialty centers: Preventative wellness visits, dentistry or vaccinations ICU-level case management and overnight hospitalization All critical cases are stabilized and transferred when appropriate We also have the capability to perform emergency soft-tissue surgeries on stabilized patients if you enjoy surgery or have an interest in learning. Participation in surgery is completely optional. Some doctors enjoy expanding their surgical skills with mentorship and support, while others prefer to focus on outpatient urgent care, and both are equally supported here. SUPPORT & TEAM You’ll work alongside an experienced ER veterinarian who provides mentorship, collaboration, and a second set of eyes when needed. Our emergency trained support team is highly skilled and actively monitors your schedule for potential life-threatening cases that should be deferred, allowing you to stay focused on practicing medicine rather than managing every step of the workflow. Our team also helps protect your time during the day. You are not expected to manage incoming calls; our cross-trained support staff handles client communication and can triage concerns, escalating to the doctor only when appropriate. This allows you to stay present with your patients. As a teaching hospital, we’re passionate about giving back to the profession. We support externships for veterinary students, technicians, and even high school students exploring careers in veterinary medicine; adding a meaningful layer of purpose beyond the day-to-day work.
