Job Description

Westford Veterinary Emergency & Referral Center is looking for a full-time Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our incredible DAY SHIFT ER team!  No two days are the same—and honestly, that's exactly how we like it.  One minute you're stabilizing a trauma patient, the next you're helping save a blocked cat, comforting worried owners, assisting with emergency surgery, running anesthesia, calculating CRIs, and celebrating the patient who gets to go home because your team made it happen.  If that sounds like your happy place... Welcome home.  Join our fast-paced, spunky veterinary team as an Emergency Veterinary Technician and become a vital part of providing exceptional animal care! Your expertise in animal handling, laboratory procedures, and veterinary terminology will help us maintain the highest standards of care. Hourly pay: $27.00-$40.00/hour depending on experience and licensure Responsibilities  Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with animal restraint and aseptic techniques  Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses  Knowledge of Antech/Idexx in-house equipment  Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, ensuring their comfort and safety during treatments  Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and patient histories in compliance with clinic protocols  Prepare animals for procedures such as catheterization, X-ray imaging, surgeries, and critical care intervention  Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and treatment areas following aseptic technique  Ability to perform CPR  Triage, obtain histories, provide patient rounds between departments  Attention to detail Skills we are looking for: IV catheter placement  Blood transfusions  Urinary catheterization  Venipuncture  Laboratory diagnostics  Anesthesia monitoring  CRIs  Patient monitoring  RECOVER certification Qualifications  Proven kennel experience and animal husbandry skills with a strong understanding of animal anatomy and physiology  Prior veterinary technician experience or related veterinary critical care experience is highly desirable  Ability to perform advanced venipuncture  Familiarity with X-ray procedures and animal catheterization techniques  Small animal restraint  Advanced drug dosing and administration  Ability to work in a high stress/fast-paced environment  Surgical/Anesthesia monitoring  Advanced venipuncture  Attention to detail  Strong communication skills with the ability to explain veterinary procedures using veterinary terminology clearly and professionally  CVT/LVT preferred but not required  We are dedicated to supporting your growth as a Veterinary Technician by providing a learning environment where your skills can flourish.
