Job Description

Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services is seeking a receptionist to join our amazing team. A day in the life of a veterinary receptionist can be both challenging and rewarding. A typical day often includes greeting clients and making them feel welcome, assisting clients in the completion of paperwork and entering information into our veterinary practice management software. Receptionists also schedule appointments, process invoices, deposits and payments. Receptionists answer a lot of telephone calls and must take concise and accurate messages and pass them along to the appropriate person quickly and efficiently. Receptionists answer questions and solve problems. Clients whose pet is experiencing a medical emergency could arrive at the hospital in a variety of emotional states. As the face of our hospital, our receptionists are expected to always be positive, exhibit warmth and empathy and always act with kindness and compassion. Each day has periods of peak volume when your ability to multi-task and prioritize will be tested. Did we mention the telephones never stop ringing? So, if your passion is creating a great customer service experience and you enjoy being an integral part of a high performing team, this could be the job for you. The successful candidate will have at least 1-2 years of customer service experience. They must have empathy, a great attention to detail, excellent communication skills, be well-organized, productive, have a commitment to lifelong learning and a sense of humor. They must not be afraid of pets or learning new computer software. Prior veterinary or pet care experience is highly desirable. This is a full-time position. As a 24/7/365 hospital, we require participation in a work schedule that typically includes daytime, evening, and a weekend shift. Team members also participate in a holiday coverage rotation. Our benefits include a competitive salary, generous healthcare benefits, uniform allowance, a pet care discount policy, a 401(k) plan and the ability to make a difference in the lives of pets and their people.
