Emergency Liaison Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services (BSVESS) is seeking an experienced veterinary professional to join our team as an Emergency Liaison. This unique role is ideal for a Veterinary Technician or experienced veterinary team member who enjoys client communication, problem-solving, and patient advocacy while utilizing their medical knowledge in a non-traditional clinical setting. If you've worked in general practice, emergency, or specialty medicine and are looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes, this may be the perfect next step in your veterinary career. As an Emergency Liaison, you will serve as a vital connection between clients, doctors, referring veterinarians, and the hospital team. You will help ensure exceptional patient care and client service by coordinating communication, supporting hospitalized patients, and facilitating follow-up care. What You'll Do Triage incoming emergency calls and help determine appropriate next steps for patients. Answer client questions regarding previously treated patients. Utilize your veterinary medical knowledge to discuss medications, potential side effects, and treatment plans as directed by clinicians. Process prescription requests and refills approved by doctors. Coordinate prescription orders with outside pharmacies. Provide updates to clients regarding hospitalized patients and facilitate client visits. Communicate laboratory results to clients as directed by veterinarians. Schedule rechecks, follow-up appointments, and emergency visits when needed. Serve as a liaison between clients and medical staff to ensure clear and compassionate communication. Communicate with referring veterinary hospitals regarding patient care and follow-up recommendations. Audit invoices for hospitalized patients to ensure accuracy and completeness of services provided. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of veterinary experience required; emergency, critical care, or specialty experience strongly preferred. Strong veterinary medical knowledge and understanding of common medications and treatments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional client service and relationship-building abilities. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Professional demeanor and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Comfortable working in a paperless medical record system and navigating multiple software platforms. Basic math and financial skills for processing payments and reviewing invoices. Why Join BSVESS?
