Job Description

Associate Veterinarian Nantucket, Massachusetts Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Generous Sign-On Bonus | Relocation Assistance | Production + No Negative Accrual Imagine building your veterinary career in one of New England’s most unique coastal communities. A well-established, year-round veterinary hospital on Nantucket is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its team. This is an opportunity to practice high-quality medicine in a community-focused environment while enjoying a Monday–Friday schedule, a diverse caseload, and the lifestyle that comes with living and working on the island. The Opportunity This is a full-service general practice and urgent care hospital providing comprehensive veterinary care throughout the year. You’ll have the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with clients and their pets while also seeing more immediate and complex cases through the hospital’s urgent care services. Clinical services include: • Wellness and preventive medicine • Sick-patient appointments • Urgent care • Diagnostics • Soft-tissue surgery • Dentistry • Acupuncture • General medicine The hospital primarily provides companion animal care while also seeing a diverse mix of species, including pocket pets, reptiles, birds, and fish. The ideal veterinarian is comfortable with general practice medicine and interested in maintaining a varied caseload that includes appointments, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery. Schedule • Full-time • Monday through Friday • Daytime hospital schedule • Year-round position For a veterinarian looking to move away from a traditional schedule that includes frequent weekends, this offers an attractive opportunity to build greater consistency into your week. Compensation The compensation structure is designed to reward both clinical contribution and production. • Competitive base salary • Production compensation opportunities • No negative accrual • Generous sign-on bonus • Moving allowance available Benefits The comprehensive benefits package includes: • Medical and life insurance • Short- and long-term disability coverage • 401(k) with employer match • Paid parental leave • Mental health and wellness resources • Childcare and elder-care support • Family-planning resources • Student loan management tools and assistance • Pet-care and veterinary service discounts Living & Working on Nantucket Nantucket offers a lifestyle unlike most veterinary markets. Located off the coast of Massachusetts, the island combines a close-knit year-round community with beaches, outdoor recreation, restaurants, historic charm, and a slower coastal lifestyle. For someone who has considered making a lifestyle change—or simply wants to practice veterinary medicine somewhere genuinely different—this opportunity provides the chance to become part of the community rather than simply commute to work within it. Relocation assistance is available to help support the transition. Qualifications • DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree • Active Massachusetts veterinary license or ability to obtain one prior to starting • Active DEA license or eligibility to obtain DEA licensure • Comfortable providing wellness and sick-patient care • Surgery and dentistry experience preferred • Strong communication and client-service skills • Collaborative and compassionate approach to veterinary medicine Why Consider This Opportunity? This isn't your typical Associate Veterinarian position. It combines general practice and urgent care medicine, a Monday–Friday schedule, production without negative accrual, a generous sign-on bonus, relocation support, and the opportunity to live and work in one of New England’s most distinctive coastal communities. For the right veterinarian, Nantucket could offer both a career opportunity and a completely different way of life. Interested in learning more?
