Job Description

Pontchartrain Animal Hospitalis seeking a Veterinary Kennel Assistant to join our team! Our Kennel team is dedicated to the care and comfort of our patients while providing critical support to the veterinary team. In this role, you will focus on patient husbandry and care as well as general housekeeping duties throughout the hospital. You will provide meals and walks to boarding patients, administer medication, and monitor for any medical or behavioral concerns while providing detailed documentation about your observations. You will ensure kennels, common spaces and treatment areas are sanitized and well stocked with supplies. This position is ideal for those who are self-driven, detail-oriented, enjoy cleaning and organization, and are committed to contributing to a team-focused environment. Schedule and compensation: Compensation: $12-14 per hour, for each hour worked Part-Time Schedule Requirements: Every Saturday: 6:00 PM until boarding duties are completed. Every Sunday: 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM until boarding duties are completed. Holiday availability required. Occasional Saturday morning shifts as needed. Full-time Benefits Package*: 401k - with company match beginning 2027 Paid time off in accordance with site policy and applicable law Personal pet discount *Part-time team members may be eligible for limited benefits in accordance with company policy and state law Your qualifications: 1+ years of veterinary kennel, boarding, daycare, or related animal care experience preferred (FFA/4-H welcomed) Passion for animal care with safe handling and restraint of dogs and cats Experience with boarding care, medication administration, walking, kennel/cage maintenance, and housekeeping Ability to assist with patient restraint, light technical tasks, and accurate record-keeping Strong observation, organization, attention to detail, and teamwork Dependable with a positive attitude and ability to meet the physical demands of the role Why choose Pontchartrain Animal Hospital?
