Responsibilities The Emergency Veterinarian will be responsible for: Performing comprehensive emergency examinations and medical assessments. Developing diagnostic and treatment plans for complex cases. Performing emergency procedures, surgery, and dentistry when required. Communicating effectively with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and patient care. Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation. Prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols. Monitoring hospitalised patients and participating in case rounds. Supporting emergency protocols and maintaining high standards of patient care. Collaborating with veterinary professionals and support staff to promote teamwork and efficiency. Working with hospital leadership on operational priorities, training, and continuous improvement. Contributing to a positive, compassionate, and professional hospital culture. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD degree) from an accredited institution. A current veterinary license in good standing. Ability to obtain and maintain DEA registration. Minimum 1 year of veterinary practice experience. Strong emergency, diagnostic, surgical, and clinical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Confidence handling critically ill or injured patients. A commitment to compassionate, high-quality veterinary medicine. The ability to work effectively within a collaborative emergency team. Preferred candidates will demonstrate: Strong problem-solving skills in a high-volume emergency environment.
