This opportunity is ideal for you. We are seeking experienced veterinary nurses to join our urgent care team as we continue to expand. Our business hours offer an excellent work-life balance, allowing you to spend time on your personal interests while maintaining a successful career. Full-time and part-time positions are available with flexible scheduling. Veterinary Nurse Responsibilities at VetCheck Pet Urgent Care Center: - Assist the doctor with physical examinations and obtain detailed patient histories. - Triage patients efficiently to ensure their stability. - Support doctors during medical, surgical, and dental procedures, including monitoring patients under anesthesia. - Provide emergency nursing care to stabilize incoming patients. - Successfully place IV catheters and draw blood from cephalic and jugular veins. - Perform in-house clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation, heartworm tests, skin scrapings, urinalysis, fungal cultures, and bloodwork. - Understand and communicate the usage and dosage of all prescribed medications to clients. - Administer injectable medications to dogs and cats via IV, IM, or subcutaneous routes. - Maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with staff members; we foster a family-like environment at VetCheck. Important Considerations Before Applying: - VetCheck plays a vital role in the community by providing care for non-critical after-hours emergencies. Our hours are Monday-Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. One weekend day per week (or every other weekend) is required. - We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. - VetCheck offers a fast-paced, non-critical emergency care experience without overnight shifts. - Our staff is highly engaged, collaborative, and maintains a positive attitude. We work together to find solutions and make decisions based on what is best for our team and hospital. Most of our staff have been with VetCheck since its inception. - We maintain a support staff ratio of 4-5 technicians per veterinarian to minimize burnout, compassion fatigue, and overall stress. - We view caring for pets as a responsibility, not merely a job. - VetCheck leadership supports staff during challenging situations and enforces a "No Tolerance Policy" for any inexcusable behavior toward employees, ensuring a safe and respectful work environment. - We actively promote diversity and inclusion in veterinary medicine.
