Veterinary Assistant Demanes Animal Hospital | Peoria, IL Pay Rate: $18-$21 per hour Demanes Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Peoria, IL. We see a diverse caseload of dogs and cats as well as birds, reptiles, and small mammals, giving our technicians and client service team the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients and cases. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Animal handling and restraint Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures Obtain health history from clients and ensure documentation is accurate and complete within the electronic medical record Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas Restock and organize medical supplies Constantly advance your knowledgebase and skill set Communicate effectively and efficiently with clients, doctors, and veterinary team Skills and Qualifications: 2 years of professional experience in a veterinary clinical setting (CSR, kennel attendant, vet assistant, other), preferred Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize tasks effectively A team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude Detail-oriented due to the high-level of quality medicine Ability to lift and restrain pets up to 40 lbs.
