Hawthorne Animal Hospital was founded in 1956 by Dr. Merrill Ottwein. Since then, Hawthorne has grown into having 3 locations. Our main location is 24/7 general practice and emergency medicine. Our 2 satellite locations are primarily focused on wellness. Hawthorne Animal Hospital is the only 24/7 emergency & general practice south of Springfield, Illinois in the state. We pride ourselves on making sure pets deserve exceptional care 24/7. Hawthorne has also won multiple awards for being best veterinarian, best place to work, and best kennel/boarding facility.
Hawthorne offers appointment hours 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, our dedicated staff provides round-the-clock ICU care for hospitalized pets and emergency services when the unexpected happens.
Requirements
Veterinarians are under the guidance and supervision of the owners and management team. Veterinarians are expected to make every effort to help improve the quality of care given to the clients of Hawthorne Animal Hospital. The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine diagnoses and treats injured or ill animals. Primarily, DVM's administer medication, vaccinations, perform surgeries, and provide general and preventative health care for pets. The pay structure for the veterinarians operates on the Pro-Sal Model with the base beginning at $120,000.
