Veterinary Assistant – Internal Medicine Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center of Hawaii (VERC) | Honolulu, HIFull-Time | Specialty Veterinary MedicineUp to $23.00/hr DOE VERC is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team in Honolulu. This role is ideal for a Vet Assistant who enjoys diagnostics, complex medical cases, hospitalized patient care, and working closely with a Specialty team. You'll support Internal Medicine patients through advanced diagnostics and procedures while building skills in endoscopy, anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and Specialty veterinary nursing. What You Bring Previous hands-on Veterinary Assistant, Vet Tech, or veterinary clinical experience. Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, medication administration, and patient monitoring. Strong animal handling and restraint skills. Experience caring for hospitalized patients and patients receiving IV fluids. Anesthesia or sedation monitoring experience preferred. Internal Medicine, Specialty, ER/ECC, ICU, Critical Care, or high-volume general practice experience is a plus. Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and attention to detail. Interest in advanced diagnostics and Specialty Veterinary Medicine. Veterinary Technician or RVT credentialing is welcome but not required for this Veterinary Assistant position. In Your Day-to-Day, You Will Assist the Internal Medicine team with appointments, diagnostics, treatments, and hospitalized patient care. Perform venipuncture, sample collection, IV catheter placement, and other technical tasks within your training and permitted scope. Support blood, urine, and other diagnostic sample collection and processing. Prepare patients and equipment for ultrasound, radiographs, CT, endoscopy, and other advanced diagnostics. Assist with anesthesia and sedation preparation, monitoring, and patient recovery. Support endoscopy and other Internal Medicine procedures. Monitor hospitalized patients receiving medications, IV fluids, and ongoing treatments. Maintain accurate patient information and communicate changes to the medical team. Support client education, admissions, discharges, and continuity of care.
