Job Description

Sprayberry Animal Hospital is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our small animal veterinary team in Marietta, GA. We're looking for someone with hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital who is comfortable providing patient care, supporting veterinarians, and working as part of a collaborative medical team. Whether your background is primarily as a Veterinary Assistant, Veterinary Technician, or Licensed Veterinary Technician, we'd love to hear from you. This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced veterinary professional who wants to use their skills, continue developing clinically, and contribute to a team that values high-quality patient care and teamwork. 🌐 https://sprayberryanimalhospital.com 📍 2135 Post Oak Tritt Rd, Marietta, GA 30062 What You'll Do As part of the veterinary support team, you will help provide compassionate patient care while supporting the doctors and hospital team throughout the day. Responsibilities may include: Assist veterinarians with wellness, sick-patient, and follow-up examinations Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and medical information Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments Prepare patients for procedures and assist with routine treatments Assist with surgical procedures, including patient preparation, surgical setup, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients and communicate changes to the medical team Assist with triage of urgent cases and help direct patients to appropriate emergency care when needed Perform or assist with venipuncture, blood collection, and IV catheter placement based on training and experience Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian Assist with radiology, laboratory testing, dentistry, and other diagnostic procedures Accurately document treatments, diagnostics, medications, and client communications in the medical record Provide clients with clear and compassionate communication regarding patient care and discharge instructions Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment, exam, and surgical areas Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and client service team members to keep patient care moving efficiently What We’re Looking For: We're looking for an experienced veterinary professional who can contribute to the team from day one. Qualified candidates will have: 2+ years of hands-on veterinary experience in a clinical setting Experience working with dogs and cats in a small animal veterinary hospital or similar clinical environment A strong foundation in veterinary patient care and nursing Comfortable handling and restraining patients safely Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team A compassionate approach to patients, clients, and coworkers Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic Ability to learn new protocols, procedures, and technology Skills We Value Depending on your level of experience, additional skills may include: Venipuncture and blood collection IV catheter placement Medication administration Anesthesia monitoring and surgical support Patient recovery and post-operative care Dentistry and dental radiology Digital radiology In-house laboratory diagnostics Triage and urgent care support LVT credentials are a plus, but not required. We welcome applications from experienced Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians with different levels of clinical experience. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to work on your feet for extended periods and safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments. Candidates should be comfortable with bending, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, repetitive hand movements, and assisting with the lifting and movement of patients and equipment. The role may require lifting or assisting with animals weighing up to 50 pounds, with appropriate team assistance or equipment used when needed.
