Build the Critical Care Team at Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Dunwoody, GA | 4500 N Shallowford Rd | Opening October 2026 Training Begins September 2026 at Our Marietta Hospital Critical Care. Advanced Medicine. A Team You Can Help Build. Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is building a dedicated Critical Care team for our new Dunwoody specialty hospital. We're looking for experienced Critical Care Veterinary Technicians, ICU Veterinary Technicians, and Veterinary Technicians who want to work with complex, critically ill patients while helping establish the culture and clinical standards of a brand-new ICU. You'll begin training with our established Marietta Critical Care team before transitioning to Dunwoody. At Dogwood, Critical Care is focused on advanced nursing, continuous monitoring, stabilization, and management of complex hospitalized patients. You'll have the opportunity to: Provide advanced ICU and critical care nursing Manage complex and critically ill patients Develop skills in advanced monitoring, CRIs, fluid therapy, transfusions, oxygen therapy, and anesthesia Collaborate with Criticalists and Board-Certified Specialists Work alongside Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Cardiology, Dermatology, and Diagnostic Imaging Help establish Critical Care workflows and team standards Grow toward advanced training and VTS-ECC certification What You'll Do Provide nursing care and continuous monitoring for ICU and hospitalized patients Perform venipuncture, blood collection, and IV catheter placement Administer medications, fluid therapy, and CRIs Perform point-of-care diagnostics and laboratory testing Monitor ECG, oxygen therapy, blood pressure, SpO₂, and other patient parameters Assist with blood product administration and transfusion monitoring Manage feeding tubes, urinary catheters, drains, and other critical care equipment Assist with anesthesia monitoring, recovery, imaging, and specialty procedures Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly Maintain accurate treatment sheets and medical records We're Looking For We’re looking for a Critical Care Veterinary Technician who brings strong clinical skills, sound judgment, and a genuine passion for caring for critically ill patients. You’ll be a strong fit if you are:  Experienced in veterinary medicine, Critical Care, ICU, or specialty practice  Confident with patient monitoring, venipuncture, IVC placement, medications, and fluid therapy  Comfortable managing multiple priorities while providing ongoing care to hospitalized patients   Detail-oriented and able to recognize and communicate changes in patient condition   A strong communicator who works collaboratively with veterinarians and fellow technicians   Comfortable caring for complex patients requiring close monitoring and frequent intervention   Committed to compassionate patient care and a strong team environment  LVT credentials are encouraged. Experience with critical care nursing, anesthesia, transfusions, CRIs, advanced monitoring, or specialty medicine is a plus. Interest in continued Critical Care development and future VTS-ECC certification is welcomed. Working in Critical Care is hands-on and active. This role requires prolonged standing and walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, patient restraint and handling, and the ability to safely lift or move patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance available for heavier patients. You’ll work around animals of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions and may be exposed to animal dander, bodily fluids, medications, disinfectants, and other veterinary hospital materials.
