Requirements
We are working on behalf of a long established, privately owned small animal hospital in Lakeland, FL that has been caring for its community for close to 60 years and is now looking for an experienced GP Veterinarian to join the team. This is a genuinely autonomous role for a confident clinician who is comfortable running general surgery, dentistry, and medicine cases independently, and who wants a real say in how a growing practice develops. The team is small and family oriented, around nine staff plus an experienced reproduction specialist, and the culture is collaborative, personal, and far less chaotic than a larger hospital. The work is primarily general practice, although the hospital is well regarded for its reproductive medicine services and runs one of the largest semen storage programs in Florida. There is scope to learn reproduction and theriogenology over time if that interests you, but it is not required. You will have strong support and equipment behind you, including three ultrasound units, modern dental equipment, laser therapy, cardiac monitors, tonopens, telemedicine backup, and visiting specialists covering orthopedics, advanced soft tissue, ultrasound, and echocardiography. The schedule is Monday to Friday with no routine weekends and no on call, and the caseload is manageable and growing steadily. For the right person there is a long term pathway toward Medical Director responsibilities, with ownership and equity open to discussion further down the line. Key Highlights • Long established, privately owned hospital with close to 60 years in the community • Monday to Friday schedule with no routine weekends and no on call • Highly autonomous GP role with support from a reproduction specialist and visiting specialists • Long term pathway toward Medical Director, with ownership and equity open to discussion • Well equipped with three ultrasound units, modern dental equipment, laser therapy, and cardiac monitoring • Option to learn reproduction and theriogenology over time, though it is not required • Small, close knit team of around nine with strong community roots • Competitive base salary plus production bonus, with flexible scheduling including a possible four day week About You • DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US • You hold, or are eligible for, licensure in Florida • Comfortable practicing independently across general surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine • Enjoys autonomy and helping a growing hospital and support team develop • Interest in future leadership or ownership opportunities would be an advantage Benefits • Competitive base salary of $120,000 to $175,000 depending on experience • Production bonus on top of base salary • Flexible scheduling options including a potential four day work week • Mentorship and development in reproduction medicine if it is of interest • Long term leadership development, with ownership potential open to discussion
