Requirements
The Veterinary Technician plays a vital, multi-functional role in supporting the medical care and well-being of animals throughout Gulf Coast Humane Society. This position works across various departments, including the high-volume spay and neuter clinic, affordable wellness clinic, and shelter medicine, helping ensure humane, efficient, and high-quality veterinary care is delivered organization-wide. The ideal candidate is compassionate, adaptable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Shelter Medicine Support the shelter veterinarian in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating animals in care. Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, fluids, and treatments. Monitor animals for signs of illness or injury and report changes promptly. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in the shelter software system. Educate staff, volunteers, and adopters about medical conditions, treatment plans, and general animal health. Ensure cleanliness and biosecurity of medical areas, kennels, and equipment. Follow safety protocols and proper animal handling techniques, particularly for those with behavioral or medical concerns. Other duties as assigned.
