Job Description

If you've owned a practice, you already know what corporate medicine costs you. You've seen what happens when the people making clinical decisions have never treated a patient. You know the difference between a well-run hospital and one that just looks like one on paper. You're not looking for a job. You're looking for a place where your experience is actually understood — and used. Dunedin Animal Medical Center is AAHA-accredited, privately owned, and led day-to-day by Dr. John Hodges, DVM. Dr. Hodges has practiced veterinary medicine for 45 years. He is a licensed building contractor, a licensed real estate agent, and has started multiple veterinary practices from the ground up. He is on-site most days and operates the way former practice owners operate — with directness, respect for clinical autonomy, and zero tolerance for unnecessary bureaucracy. This is not a managed care environment. There is no production committee. There is no regional director. Decisions about medicine are made by veterinarians. What this position offers: • $175,000–$200,000 base salary + production bonus, no negative accrual • Flexible schedule — 2, 3, or 4-day workweek structured around your life • Full-service AAHA-accredited facility with a broad and interesting caseload: general practice, soft tissue surgery, dentistry including surgical extractions, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, including ophthalmology and cardiology cases. Emergency cases treated during normal business hours. Visiting orthopedic surgeons perform in-house orthopedic procedures. No evening or weekend on-call requirements. • Boarding and kennel operation on-site — a revenue stream most practices don't have • CE reimbursement, state license and DEA fees covered • Discounted pet care • Paid time off • Collegial environment — experienced team, strong support staff, minimal administrative burden Who this is for: A veterinarian with meaningful experience — whether that means years in practice, former ownership, or both. You want to focus on medicine. You want to work with people who understand what you've done and respect what you know. You want flexibility without chaos and autonomy without isolation. Former practice owners are strongly encouraged to apply. You will find peers here, not managers. About the practice: Dunedin Animal Medical Center sits in the heart of downtown Dunedin on the Gulf Coast — one of the most livable communities on Florida's west coast. Walkable downtown, craft breweries, art festivals, Clearwater Beach minutes away. If you're relocating, this is a market worth serious consideration. The practice serves Dunedin, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor, Tarpon Springs, and surrounding communities. Established patient base. Modern facility. Experienced team. Ready to talk? Hit Apply and you'll hear back within one business day. No recruiter. No runaround. A direct conversation with people who can actually answer your questions.
