Medical Director – Clinical & Medical Leadership Location: Norwalk, Connecticut About the Role: A leading veterinary organization is seeking a Medical Director to provide strategic and clinical leadership at their Norwalk, Connecticut hospital. This role combines clinical excellence with operational oversight, supporting both specialty and emergency services in a state-of-the-art facility. The Medical Director will lead a team of dedicated doctors and staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, empowerment, and continuous improvement. This position is ideal for veterinarians with strong leadership experience who are passionate about advancing specialty veterinary care while promoting a supportive work environment. About the Practice: This hospital offers 24/7 Emergency care alongside multiple specialties, including Medical Oncology, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and upcoming Radiation Oncology (2026). The facility features advanced technology, including CT, MRI, and a linear accelerator, enabling doctors to provide exceptional care. Responsibilities: Provide clinical and operational leadership across all specialty and emergency services. Partner with the Hospital Director to oversee hospital performance, workflows, and strategic initiatives. Lead hiring, onboarding, development, and performance management of doctors. Manage doctor schedules, departmental meetings, and communications. Ensure efficient, safe, and compassionate patient care. Oversee budgets, financial results, and resource allocation in collaboration with leadership. Support and coach doctors in Referral Partner outreach and community engagement. Address escalated patient care, referral partner, and client concerns. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and excellence aligned with organizational values. Candidate Profile: Veterinarian with 5–7+ years of progressive leadership experience in veterinary or animal health organizations. Board-certified specialists, experienced emergency veterinarians, veterinarians with military leadership, or equivalent leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-stakes situations with maturity and professionalism. Strong commitment to developing engaged, empowered teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
