Requirements
The Veterinary Assistant supports our veterinary team in delivering exceptional patient care and client service in a fast-paced hospital environment. Key Responsibilities The Veterinary Assistant performs a range of technical duties including surgery assistance, dentistry, lab procedures, venipuncture, and proper animal restraint, while maintaining accurate medical records and upholding hospital quality standards. Additional responsibilities include educating clients on Wellness Plans and general pet health, handling reception duties such as phones, scheduling, and patient intake/discharge, managing inventory, and ensuring all assigned duties are completed each shift. All work is performed in accordance with OSHA standards and company policies. Customer Service The Veterinary Assistant delivers professional, efficient, and compassionate service, adapting to the individual needs of each client and resolving concerns promptly and effectively. Qualifications The ideal candidate has experience handling dogs, cats, and exotic animals, along with knowledge of basic animal care and common medical procedures. They demonstrate the ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure, and possess strong communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in veterinary software systems (EMR, scheduling) is a plus, as is the ability to work independently with good judgment, a proactive mindset, and a high level of accountability.
