Schedule Full Time Sunday – Tuesday: 7pm -7am Job Description As an ER/ICU Technician, your primary responsibility is to triage patients as they present to the Emergency Room according to triage levels. Assess pets and provide immediate lifesaving care under the direction of the ER doctor as required for critical patients. Provides history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients. Works well with other technical staff and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plan and/or hospitalize the patient. Communicates medical updates, financials, and treatment plans to owners. Responsibilities Provides excellent patient care to every patient Triage patients as they come into the ER with appropriate medical decision making and escalation to ER doctor as appropriate. Obtaining history and vital signs of the pet Assist DVM’s with exams, treatments and procedures Immediately respond to STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a Veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery). Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing Instinct Demonstrate working knowledge of financial and charging practices including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment and discharging patients. Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients are receiving the best possible patient care Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions Attend department and staff meetings Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness and organization of the hospital. Other duties as needed. Qualifications RVT/LVT/CVT preferred required. Strong understanding of emergency triage and patient assessment. Proficiency in venipuncture, patient restraint, medication administration, and sample collection. Experience with radiography and laboratory procedures Anesthesia and sedation monitoring experience preferred. Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately. Excellent communication and client service skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced emergency environment. Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork and collaboration. Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
