Alta Rancho Pet and Bird Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital treating dogs, cats and birds. Our hospital offers cutting edge medical and surgical diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. These range from preventive medical services; such as immunizations, nutritional counseling, and parasite control to internal medicine issues as well as bone, joint and soft tissue surgery. Our facility has three consultation/exam rooms, complete dental suite, surgical suite, laboratory, pharmacy, isolation ward, radiology department and boarding kennel. Our well-trained staff of 12 dedicated health care providers consists of veterinary assistants, veterinary technicians and receptionists. Our staff have undergone intensive training to provide you with the quality care that you and your pets both desire and deserve.

Job Description

3 + years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in California, or eligible to transfer/acquire state license within 3 months of hire required Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required. Knowledge of industry tools and equipment Passion for working with small animals, birds, exotics, and their owners Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital or outdoor setting Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills Dental procedure experience, scaling, polishing, radiographs, extractions, suturing required Skilled in IV Catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, applying casts, bandages and splints Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation, monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care Laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretation Diagnostic experience including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis And all other duties of a Registered Veterinary Technician as allowable by law
