Overview
The Animal Friends Rescue Project vet clinic supports the program dogs and cats that are brought in from local shelters. The clinic performs a variety of services on our program animals, such as wellness checks, vaccines, dental exams and extractions, spay/neuter, amputation, enucleation, mass removals, and cherry eye repair just to name a few. Our vet has a full support team including an RVT, two vet assistants, an office administrator, and several externs from a local technical college. This is extremely rewarding work!

Job Title: Veterinarian, Shelter and Community Medicine Location: Monterey, CA Hours: 40 hrs/wk Reports To: Operations Manager Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, with alternative work schedule possible Salary Range: $145,000-$185,000 salaried DOE; eligible for a competitive stipend package to cover licensure/premise permit; DEA registration; associated memberships; continuing education; medical scrubs and any approved travel expenses. Benefits: This position is eligible for a benefits package that includes vacation and holiday pay, paid sick time, paid employee appreciation time, life insurance, 403(b) plan, and low-cost veterinary services for personal companion animals. Each day at the AFRP Vet Clinic is filled with variety, balancing surgeries, medical exams, and support for our foster network and rescue partners. Mornings may begin with spay/neuter surgeries, dentals, mass removals, or amputations. Afternoons are typically devoted to wellness exams and vaccinations, assessments of sick or injured animals, and follow-up care or guidance for foster families. The AFRP Clinic is usually open Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm, however we are open to alternate work schedules for the right vet! Throughout the day, our veterinarian also provides input on potential medical intake candidates and collaborates with the team to ensure the best outcomes for our animals. The daily structure is flexible, empowering the veterinarian to shape their schedule and adjust priorities as needed.
