Associate Veterinarian Position Summary The Associate Veterinarian delivers exceptional medical, surgical, and preventive care while serving as a collaborative leader within DTLA Vets. This role is responsible for practicing high-quality medicine, building trusted client relationships, and partnering with an experienced healthcare team so each team member can work at the top of their training and licensure. Doctors are not expected to manage every part of the patient visit alone. DTLA Vets uses an intentionally designed workflow focused on communication, delegation, efficiency, and teamwork, allowing veterinarians to stay focused on medicine while contributing to an excellent client and patient experience. Core Responsibilities Medical Care • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and develop diagnostic and treatment plans based on current standards of care. • Perform routine and advanced surgical procedures appropriate to experience, training, and licensure. • Interpret laboratory, radiographic, and diagnostic findings and individualize care for each patient. • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records. • Participate in continuing education and ongoing professional development. Client Communication • Build trust through compassionate, transparent, and confident communication. • Present diagnostic and treatment recommendations clearly, including options, expectations, and follow-up needs. • Educate clients in a way that supports preventive care, long-term wellness, and owner compliance. • Address client concerns professionally and partner with the healthcare team to ensure consistent communication throughout the visit. Team Leadership and Workflow • Foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, psychological safety, and shared accountability. • Support technicians, assistants, client service representatives, and the Flow Coordinator in maintaining efficient hospital operations. • Delegate appropriate responsibilities to trained team members and utilize the healthcare team effectively. • Transition promptly between appointments, communicate delays early, and remain adaptable when schedules require adjustment. • Support workflow decisions that improve patient movement, client experience, and hospital efficiency.
