Requirements
Fantastic opportunity for an experienced veterinary leader ready to guide a thriving Los Angeles small animal practice into its next phase of growth and clinical impact. This is a modern multi-location practice that has built its reputation on straightforward, gold-standard medicine without rushing appointments or overloading doctors. This Los Feliz hospital opened at the end of 2024. It currently has one doctor and 12 support staff, with physical capacity for up to six doctors. The space was designed intentionally with three exam rooms, a separate dental suite, a dedicated soft tissue surgical suite, and a treatment area that allows you to actually work cases up properly. The practice sees a steady mix of wellness, preventative care, and soft tissue surgery. Standard days are 12-16 appointments with 30-minute in-person visits. Surgery days typically include four to six procedures. There is continuity of care. You are not pushed into five-minute medicine, and you are not handing cases off mid-workup unless you choose to. You would step into this role as the clinical anchor of the hospital. You report directly to the regional medical director, but day to day you are the one shaping how medicine is practiced in the building, working closely alongside the practice manager. As the team grows, you set the tone for standards, case management, and decision-making. You will work closely with an established lead veterinarian from a nearby location during your transition, so there is a proper hand-over and real support while you build your own rhythm. Ten percent of your schedule is protected for administrative work, leadership, and mentoring. The rest of your week is hands-on. You are in appointments, you are in surgery, and you are available on the floor. You oversee associate doctors as they join, teach surgery confidently, and partner closely with the clinic manager on operations. Key Highlights: • Newer Los Feliz clinic opened end of 2024 with room to build to a 6-doctor team • Currently 1 doctor and 12 support staff, including an experienced RVT serving as shift lead • 4 to 6 surgeries per procedure day with dedicated surgical and dental suites • Physical layout designed for true GP medicine, not retrofitted space • Direct access to regional medical leadership for clinical discussion and decision-making • 10% protected admin/mentorship time • Technology platform + 24/7 virtual care support • Equity opportunities + enhanced Lead Doctor bonus structure • Opportunity to shape workflows, mentor future associates, and influence hiring • Production structure at 22 percent plus clinic incentive bonus • Chance to help shape and lead the way for a new clinic in a thriving Los Angeles neighborhood About you: • Experienced DVM with prior experience in a leadership role • Confident in soft tissue surgery and willing to teach • Interested in building a team, not just filling a schedule • Adaptable and steady during growth and operational change • Able to partner with a clinic manager and hold clinical standards
