Veterinary Technician – Emergency | Day Shift Pacific CARE Pet Emergency & Specialty – Irvine, CACompensation: $26–$30/hour, based on experienceEmployment Type: Full-timeSchedule: Sunday–Wednesday, day shifts About the Role Bring your technical skills and compassion to emergency veterinary medicine. Pacific CARE Pet Emergency & Specialty is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our daytime Emergency team. You’ll assist with incoming emergency cases, support hospitalized patients, and collaborate with veterinarians and fellow technicians to deliver timely, attentive care. We’re looking for someone with excellent venipuncture skills who stays organized as patient needs and priorities change. Responsibilities In your day-to-day, you will: Assist veterinarians with the assessment, stabilization, and treatment of incoming emergency patients. Perform accurate, efficient venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and sample collection. Provide nursing care for emergency and hospitalized patients. Monitor vital signs, comfort, and response to treatment, promptly communicating changes to the veterinarian. Administer prescribed medications, fluids, and treatments within your training and authorized scope. Assist with laboratory testing, diagnostic procedures, and patient preparation. Coordinate with the medical team to support patient flow and timely completion of treatments. Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation. Provide thorough patient handoffs to the incoming team. Maintain clean, organized treatment areas and follow infection prevention protocols. Communicate compassionately with clients and reinforce instructions provided by the veterinarian. Qualifications Previous veterinary technician experience with strong hands-on nursing skills. Excellent venipuncture skills and proficiency with IV catheter placement. Emergency or specialty veterinary experience preferred. Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly under veterinary direction. Attention to detail with medication calculations, treatment instructions, and documentation. Ability to organize competing priorities in a fast-paced emergency environment. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork. Availability to work Sunday–Wednesday day shifts.
