Job Description

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced veterinarian to take on a Medical Director position and lead the relaunch of a long-standing small animal practice in Los Angeles, CA. This is not your typical clinical role, this is a chance to rebuild, shape, and grow a hospital from the ground up, with full autonomy and strong financial backing. This well-established GP hospital has served its local community for decades as a high-volume, accessible care provider. Following a period of closure in late 2024, the ownership group is now investing significantly into reopening the clinic, making this an exciting opportunity for a driven and entrepreneurial veterinarian to take the lead. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing workflows, influencing the clinic setup, and establishing the standard of care from day one. Initially, you’ll be supported by a small, newly built team (CSR + technicians), with plans to grow as the caseload develops. The practice will focus on dogs and cats, offering a mix of preventative care, routine surgery, and high-volume medicine tailored to a community that values practical, flexible treatment options. This role requires a confident, experienced clinician who is comfortable working independently, enjoys surgery, and is motivated to build both a team and a client base. With a flexible schedule (including options for a 4-day week / 32 hours), strong earning potential ($200,000–$235,000), and substantial sign-on and retention bonuses, this role is ideal for someone looking to step into leadership and make a real impact. Key Highlights: • Opportunity to lead the full relaunch of an established GP hospital • True clinical and operational autonomy from day one • High earning potential with $225,000–$235,000 base salary • Up to $100,000 in sign-on, retention, and relocation bonuses • Flexible scheduling (including 4-day / 32-hour work week) • Backing from a larger group with resources for growth and investment • Ideal for a vet who enjoys high-volume, community-focused medicine About You: • DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US • You hold (or are eligible for) a licensure in California • 3+ years of clinical experience with strong surgical confidence • Comfortable working as a sole DVM and leading a small team • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build and grow a practice Benefits: • Base salary between $225,000-$235,000 • Signing, retention, and relocation bonuses up to $100,000 • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • 401(k) with discretionary contributions • CE allowance and professional development support • Wellness support including EAP and mental health resources
