Job Description

A privately owned small animal hospital in Fresno County is looking to add an Associate Veterinarian to a growing team. This is a full-time Monday to Friday role in a recently built, paperless practice with a strong preventative care foundation and a steady mix of medicine, surgery, and dentistry. The hospital has built a strong local reputation over the past three years by combining efficient workflows with a genuinely supportive culture. Located in a prime position, the practice sees a consistent caseload with a broad client base. The clinic currently operates with one experienced DVM, two full-time receptionists, and nine veterinary assistants, maintaining a higher support staff to doctor ratio than most general practices. This is a fast-paced but well-structured environment where doctors are supported to be productive without being overloaded. Appointment flow is managed carefully, with drop-off appointments, direct treatment rechecks, and curbside options helping the team work efficiently throughout the day. Doctors typically see 10 to 15 appointments daily with a good mix of preventative care, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, wound management, and medicine cases. The practice also works alongside two visiting board-certified surgeons, giving associates exposure to more advanced procedures without the pressure of handling everything alone. The facility itself is modern and fully paperless, using Shepherd Veterinary Software with integrated transcription technology that captures medical records automatically during appointments. Equipment includes digital radiography, handheld dental x-ray units, in-house laboratory diagnostics, advanced ultrasound, LigaSure, and electrocautery. New veterinarians can also be supported with scribes if needed during onboarding. The owner has extensive experience in both clinical practice and hospital management and places a strong emphasis on retention, mentorship, and work-life balance. Staff are expected to leave on time, weekends are protected, and the culture is collaborative rather than hierarchical.
